Very rare tall case clock made in the upper Shenandoah Valley by Caleb Davis (1769-1834) Woodstock, Virginia circa 1810. This example is one of only 20 known pieces. Clock face signed Caleb Davis. The case is constructed of Mahogany with flame mahogany veneer accents. Broken arch at top ornamented by three brass globes with spike tops. Signed and handpainted metal clock face with two hand movement, a moon phase dial, and rosebud motif. There are fluted details to either side, as well as an inlaid satinwood border at bottom. Raised on turned feet. Working door key included. Weights and pendulum present. Very good condition for age and use. 94"H x 19"W x 9"D
